Johnson City Varsity Basketball players Marisa Smith and Zubayr Griffin have been named Section IV Class A Players of the Year by the BCANY (Basketball Coaches Association of NY)!
Zubayr, a junior, averaged 28.2 points per game, leading the Wildcats to a 19-3 overall record. Johnson City won the Metro Division and STAC Championship this season. The first STAC Championship for Boys Basketball since 2011.
Marisa, a senior, averaged 18.1 points per game, leading the Wildcats to a 15-7 overall record. Johnson City won the Metro Division for the second consecutive year and earned their first Section IV Championship since 2005. The Lady Wildcats fell short in the regional final to defending state champions Walter Panas.
