sportsThe Johnson City Athletics Department was pleased to be the recipient of a $1,000 grant this school year from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Foundation to help pay for fees associated with certifying high school students to become sports officials.

Athletics Director Jeff Paske and P.E. teacher Eric Putman set up weekly study halls beginning last September for interested students to meet with sports assignors to work toward earning certification in various school sports. On January 16, students met with soccer assignor Terry Davis.

The endeavor will continue until the end of the school year.
