Friday evening’s “Senior to Senior Dinner Dance” was a memorable time for all!
Johnson City High School students hosted seniors at the Johnson City Senior Center for dinner, dancing, trivia, raffles and FUN! It included lots of laughs, singing, storytelling and even a kick line for Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York.”
Tons of volunteers and organizations made the evening extra special amd we thank our high school students for participating. They decorated, served coffee and tea, served dinner, interacted with the seniors, DJ’ed, danced, sang, ran a photo booth and printed pictures for each senior and cleaned up. Also, a special thank you to the teachers/advisors that made the event possible: Ann Goroleski, Andrea Hankey, Tricia Carpenter, Sue Anderson and Debra Welsh Clarke.
Thank you to Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church for the delicious spaghetti and meatball dinner. Thank you to the Johnson City Senior Center staff for helping set up, clean up and plating all the dinners. Thank you to the Broome County Office for Aging for promoting the event and tending to every detail. Thank you to the Binghamton University College of Community and Public Affairs for your overall guidance and designing surveys for feedback on the event.
Also, thank you to the Johnson City businesses that donated raffle items: Brozzetti’s Pizza, Rossi’s Pizza, the Pour House Pub & Grill and Home Depot.
