Posted on 03/11/2025
Civic EngagementHigh school students in Judy Gleason and Donna Geetter's "Citizens in Action" elective class have been researching community issues of interest and sharing their findings in PowerPoint presentations with their classmates and invited staff members. Topics have included enhancing our afterschool programs to help young learners, understanding teen mental health, substance use disorder resources, and solutions for New York's voter turnout. The students compiled much of their data based on interviews with students, staff members, local politicians, and experts in their field of research.

Based on the in-class feedback they received, the students will further refine their projects in preparation for the high school's second annual Civics Fair, taking place at 5 p.m. on April 30 in the high school cafeteria.
