Julie Raway, registered dietician for Broome-Tioga BOCES, visited the high school today to speak to our EDU111 Foundations of Education class. The class serves as an introduction to the teaching profession and is geared toward students considering the possibility of pursuing a teaching certification in the future.
Raway spoke about the Rock on Café, the Farm to School program and how healthy meal plans are created using foods based in New York state, food insecurity, and her ongoing mission to provide nutrition education to students. Throughout the school year, Raway and her team visit area schools to conduct fun taste tests during lunch periods to help determine potential new menu items based on student feedback.
